New opportunities for military and civilians with visual injuries: cooperation with the Center for Ocular Prosthetics

On May 24, 2024, the Light in You Inclusive Foundation signed an important agreement with the Valdis Valters Eye Prosthetics Center. This decision is intended to improve access to quality services for our defenders and fellow citizens who have suffered from the armed aggression of the Russian Federation and need eye prostheses.

Valdis Valters is one of the leading eyecare practitioners in the Baltic States with over 30 years of experience. His professional reputation is based on working with high-quality materials, such as cryolite from the German manufacturer Augenprothetik Lauscha GmbH. The cooperation opens up new prospects for the Foundation's beneficiaries, who will be able to receive prostheses that are maximally adapted to their anatomical features.

Advantages of modern prostheses

What exactly is special about these prostheses? First of all, they are created individually for each patient, which ensures not only a natural look but also increases comfort in everyday life. Here are the main advantages:

  • Anatomical accuracy: Dentures are made to the patient's shape and features.

  • Natural appearance: Modern materials allow to achieve an aesthetic result that is difficult to distinguish from the real eye.

  • Social confidence: People will be able to adapt more easily in society.

  • Durability: Prostheses do not require frequent replacements, making them practical to use.

Training of new specialists

In addition to providing prostheses, the partnership will also help develop professional skills in the field of prosthetics. It is planned to launch training and retraining programs for specialists, which will allow us to introduce modern methods in Ukraine and make them available to a wider range of patients.

What does this mean in practice?

This cooperation is a real chance for many people in need of eye prostheses to get better solutions. We are talking about concrete help: people will be able to feel more confident and comfortable with prostheses tailored to their individual needs.

It is worth noting that the agreement also provides for professional training of eye prosthetics specialists. This will expand the capabilities of Ukrainian specialists by introducing the world's best practices and technologies.
